River Gambia viewed from the island of Janjang-Bureh
The river Gambia cuts the country in two from the mouth at the Atlantic to the border with Senegal . The island, known by some as Georgetown is now referred to by others as Janjang-Bureh . The new government has taken the proper step of renaming colonial place names . Janjang-Bureh island is nearly 3km wide and sits in the middle of the river Gambia . The island is named after two African twin brothers named Jang and Jang.
