Some hidden truths before you enter the Flag Galleries

This site is not Anti American.... It is anti US Foreign Policy. Under GW Bush and his cabal of fellow board members the US has plummeted to new depths in the deception of its US citizens to carry out dangerous and dishonest acts abroad.

The dealings of the United States have not always been obvious and honest. There is the land, the people, and then, its foreign policy. The majority of the people have little or no knowledge of what is perpetrated in their name. Many more are wrapped up in the flag of Freedom and Liberty so that they cannot clearly see. Some know but do not care. Many more fight the political system which leads to the election of a small group of rich elite Politico/businessmen tailoring foreign policy to their own greed. If for example US foreign policy is based upon "Freedom and Democracy" why do the US have such an appalling record of voting on issues in the UN that would help make the world a freer and more democratic place. For many years US foreign policy has been geared to the installation of ruthless and oppressive foreign regimes which, would be attributed to the Cold War. The American people are constantly persuaded through Perception Management, as in Kuwait and the Gulf War that the wrong is right and, that everything simply boils down to "we are the good guys and, they (whoever they are) are the bad guys". The CIA has an old adage for the many ruthless and unsavoury characters they have put into power,  "He may be a Bastard but, he's our bastard". American political and economic hegemony in the world started long before the Cold War and, continues long after its end.

Throughout the world, on any given day, a man, woman or child is likely to be Displaced, tortured, killed or “disappeared”, at the hands of governments or armed political groups. More often than not, the United States shares the blame.

AMERICA WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND THEY ARE

US !

"I spent 33 years in the Marines. Most of my time being a high-class muscle man for Big business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer for capitalism. I helped make Mexico safe for oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenue in. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras "right" for American fruit companies in 1903. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints."

WHO ARE THE OTHER PERPETRATORS OF SO CALLED "INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM" ?

As the old saying goes “one man’s freedom fighter is another man’s terrorist” Can Ronald Reagan and other US Presidents be called terrorists, or even War Criminals Putting aside the many other dark deeds of the US government and it’s foreign policy arm, the CIA, I will take one example of what I would class as state terrorism. Nicaragua in the late 1970s, the US installed dictator, Anastasio Samoza lost power In a popular people’s revolution. The US, the defacto rulers of Nicaragua for the last 100 years, did not like losing one of its spheres of influence. So, under Ronald Reagan a small disgruntled minority group by the name of Contra were turned into a large brutal mercenary army to suit the needs of US policy. The aim of the US and the Contra would be to destabilise the economy of Nicaragua and terrorise its people. Under Samoza and his brutal regime the illiteracy rate stood at 70%, health care for the majority was beyond reach and poverty was rife. The new Nicaraguan Sandinista Government undertook a massive health care and literacy campaign to right some of the wrongs of 100 years of US interference. So, the US government, through the Contra, set about destroying any programmes that benefited the people. The US was desperate to prove that any form of Socialism was oppressive could not benefit the people and, did not work, even if it had to use terror and oppression to do it! With US spy satellite intelligence the Contra specifically targeted schools Health centres and community centres. The murder and torture of judge’s teachers and local officials was a prime directive from the CIA ( as published in a US Psychological warfare and propaganda training manual) The Contra 'army' hardly ever engaged the Sandinista government soldiers, preferring instead to terrorise the civilian population. On top of this the CIA allowed the trafficking of Cocaine to fund the Contra operation (after congress withdrew funding) This Cocaine would later be sold to US citizens!! The hypocrisy is staggering. America was not even ‘officially’ at war with Nicaragua! God help any nation that the US formally declares war on.

In a November 1935 article in Common Sense, retired marine general Smedley D. Butler blamed the Corporation of Brown Brothers, Harriman for having the U.S. marines act like 'racketeers' and 'gangsters' in order to exploit financially the peasants of Nicaragua. . . .

Only the tactics have changed

Sister Sandra Price, a US Nun working in Nicaragua wrote: "On 25 March 1986 a group of Contra took one of our Catholic catechists, Donato Mendoza, from his home. Two kilometres on they castrated him, gouged out his eyes, pulled out his fingernails, and cut the flesh from his legs, broke every bone in his body, and shot him...."

This horrific brutality was suffered by one man but, the aim was to terrorise the rest of the community, to spread fear and hence gain compliance and submission of the populace. Paramilitary acts are described by the FBI and George Bush in the US (world) description of terrorism.

In the years 1982-1985, 3,346 children and adolescents were killed by the Contra, and 6,236 children lost both or one parent.

1000 Nicaraguan army deaths.

600 Nicaraguan civilian deaths.

2,400 Nicaraguans wounded or abducted by the Contra. (It should be noted that most people abducted by the Contra would be tortured, raped and killed (in the most barbarous ways)

   98 adult education teachers killed.

  171 adult education teachers kidnapped.

15 primary teachers killed and 16 kidnapped.

    14 schools destroyed.

   840 adult education centres closed.

   354 schools closed

18 doctors and nurses killed, including two Europeans, killed since 1981.

19 health centres in North Zelaya forced to close since 1981.

7 health centres destroyed in Region1, and ambulances from Ocotal and

 El Jicaro ambushed and destroyed.

4 health centres totally destroyed in Region 6, and 9 out of action

because of danger to staff.

Figures from 1985 Oxfam publication “Threat of a good example”

When Samoza fled Nicaragua to his masters in the US, it is reported that he arrived with around $900 million in his pocket!

I personally cannot think of any other words to describe the aforementioned actions other than, state interventionist terrorism.

The overall death toll in Nicaragua would amount to 30,000. This one episode in US foreign policy deaths far outnumbers the 3000 or so killed on the 11 September attack! It does seem that the only body bags that matter are the ones with the Stars and Stripes draped over them?

"- even though more Iraqi children die every month, mostly as a result of the Anglo-American embargo, than the total number of dead in the twin towers, a truth that is not allowed to enter public consciousness. The killing of Iraqi infants, like the killing of Chechens, like the killing of Afghan civilians, is rated less morally abhorrent than the killing of Americans". John Pilger, The truths they never tell us.

According to Ronald Reagan the Contra were “Freedom Fighters” If we apply the same logic to Osama bin Laden and the Taliban, they must also be “freedom Fighters” !!!! and if not, then Ronald Reagan must also be considered a terrorist!

 FBI definition of terrorism

The FBI defines terrorism as "the unlawful use of force or violence committed by a group or individual, who has some connection to a foreign power or whose activities transcend national boundaries, against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a national government, the civilian population or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives"

The FBI definition, although meant to describe acts directed against the United States, would  seem to cover rather well countless acts of the US itself.

Uncle Sam's Terrorists!

Burning the Flag is an indication of the hatred felt by numerous countries around the globe at US Foreign Policy and interference.

This Critique may give the impression that the US is the only wrongdoer in the world, it is not. Countries such as Russia with it's outrageous brutal intervention in Chechnya and other "former" soviet satellites do not go unnoticed. China too is on the role call. Europe too is also given, since the bloody days of colonialism, to meddling in other sovereign countries affairs. But now, the US, the worlds only imperial superpower and rogue state is in danger of going into overdrive. The US spends more on military expenditure than all of it's listed seven potential "enemies" adding also Russia and China. This staggeringly obscene amount totals $310.06 billion. Amounting to $589, 802 spent on the military every minute. This amount is the average spent throughout the Cold War from 1946 to 1989!

A world once divided into two armed camps now recognizes one sole and pre-eminent power, the United States of America. And they regard this with no dread. For the world trusts us with power, and the world is right. They trust us to be fair, and restrained. They trust us to be on the side of decency. They trust us to do what's right. George Bush, 1992

As someone who observes US foreign policy, the above statement is pure PR and Spin. I for one do regard this with dread and, it worries the hell out of me. But, at least I have the benefit of not being a "lesser" person living on land that is rich in oil or minerals!!

Here's James Woolsey,
former Director of the CIA, speaking in December in Washington,
advocating an invasion of Iraq and unconcerned about the response
of the Arab world: The silence of the Arab public in the wake of
America's victories in Afghanistan, he said, proves that "only
fear will re-establish respect for the U.S."

END WORD

Since putting up this page at the end of 2001 we have seen the muscle bound superpower flexing its muscles around the globe. From waging a totally dishonest war, waged by a totally dishonest cabal of US Politico/Businessmen ensconced in the Whitehouse by a fraudulent election, to bully boy tactics to force the rest of the world to see things the US way.

As International Terrorism now replaces the old rallying war cry of International Communism we still have no progress on US foreign policy hypocrisy. After no trace of WMD in Iraq (the very reason for invasion) we are told the back up lie of "Saddam is a bad man who kills and tortures his own people" well yes we, or some of us knew that because our governments supported him while he was doing it!!! And just like the ethics (or lack of) involved with the Cold war we have a duplicate set involved with this new "War on Terrorism" Take for example a report by the US Department of State in 1999 concerning Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan is an authoritarian state with limited civil rights. The Constitution provides for a presidential system with separation of powers between the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. In practice President Islam Karimov and the centralized executive branch that serves him dominate political life. Chosen president in a 1991 election that most observers considered neither free nor fair, Karimov had his stay in office extended to 2000 by a 1995 plebiscite. Parliament subsequently voted to make the extension part of Karimov's first term, thus making him eligible to run again in 2000. The executive branch dominates the Oliy Majlis (Parliament), which consists only of members of parties that support the President. Despite constitutional provisions for an independent judiciary, the executive branch heavily influences the courts in both civil and criminal cases. The National Security Service (NSS)--the former KGB committed numerous serious human rights abuses.

So how come that Karimov is best friends with GW Bush and his cabal? How come Uzbekistan is receiving financial support from the US who also sells him weapons? How come the US ,along with my own government (UK)  goes to great lengths to hush up Karimovs abuses and repression? Again and again and again hypocrisy is the only word that comes to mind.
